General Service Agreement

(2025 Revision)

This document governs the relationship between Sound Electrical Contractors, LLC (“SEC”), a Washington Limited Liability Company, and its customers. SEC will detail all work and services to be provided in specific project proposals, outlining the materials, work to be performed, and the terms agreed upon for each project.

Engagement of SEC’s services—whether by verbal agreement, written proposal, or digital acceptance via HouseCall Pro (HCP), QuickBooks Online (QBO), email, or text confirmation—constitutes full and binding acceptance of the terms and conditions outlined in this General Service Agreement. Customers who proceed with scheduling or allow work to begin are considered to have reviewed and accepted all articles within this agreement.

All estimates are valid for 7 days from the date issued.

Customer Definition

The “Customer” includes any individual or entity that is the payor, the owner of the property where the work is performed, or any parent organization responsible for payment. The recipient of this document is designated as the Customer. This designation establishes the payor’s legal responsibility for all obligations under this Service Agreement, defining who owns the work to be performed and ensuring accountability for payment.

Article 2: Payment Terms and Conditions

Standard Projects

  • A 50% non-refundable deposit is required at the time of scheduling.

  • No work will be scheduled, and no materials will be ordered until this deposit is received.

  • The remaining 50% balance is due upon completion of the project and prior to final turnover of the work.

Extended Duration Projects

  • For projects expected to last longer than two (2) weeks, SEC will establish a specific draw schedule tied to milestones.

  • The initial 50% deposit remains required and is not altered by the draw schedule.

Service Work

  • All same-day service work (troubleshooting, repairs, maintenance) must be paid in full on the day of service.

  • Payment must be in process before work is completed.

Cancellation & Rescheduling

  • Deposits are non-refundable.

  • If the Customer cancels after scheduling, deposits may be credited toward a future project scheduled within six (6) months at SEC’s discretion.

  • Rescheduling requires at least 48 hours’ notice. Late cancellations may result in forfeiture of deposit.

Collections & Late Payments

  • Balances not paid when due are subject to a 1.5% monthly service charge (18% annual).

  • SEC reserves the right to suspend work and warranty coverage until accounts are current.

  • Returned payments will incur additional fees.

Article 3: Services Provided

  • SEC will provide all work agreed upon verbally, in writing, or digitally.

  • Up-front pricing will be provided where possible, using a menu of service options to ensure transparency.

  • Changes in scope must be documented and approved in writing before work begins.

Article 4: Customer Responsibilities

  • Customer must ensure SEC has clear access to the jobsite.

  • Work areas must be free of obstructions, pets secured, and other trades scheduled to avoid interference.

  • Delays caused by inaccessibility, unsafe site conditions, or interference by other trades may result in additional charges.

Article 5: Right to Lien Notice (RCW 18.27.114 and RCW 60.04)

  • The Customer’s property may be subject to a lien if suppliers, subcontractors, or SEC are not paid.

  • Customers may request lien releases from suppliers and subcontractors.

  • SEC is registered with the State of Washington under registration number SOUNDEC763B3.

Article 6: Warranty Coverage

Labor Warranty

SEC provides a 5-year warranty on labor for all services, beginning on the job or permit date. This coverage exceeds state minimums and typical industry warranties, reflecting SEC’s commitment to long-lasting craftsmanship.

Materials Warranty

All SEC-supplied materials are above builder grade and covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, typically one year. SEC will coordinate warranty claims for components it supplies and installs.

Warranty Exclusions

 This warranty does not cover:

  • Non-durable items such as bulbs, fuses, or batteries

  • Customer-supplied materials

  • Existing wiring not replaced by SEC

  • Damage by third parties, pets, or tampering after completion

  • Consequential damages from misuse, outages, or third-party work

  • Accounts not paid in full (warranty is void until account is current)
    Membership Extended Protection (Optional)

Customers enrolled in SEC’s Safe & Sound Club receive additional protection, including:

  • Lifetime craftsmanship guarantee (while membership is active)

  • Annual whole-home electrical safety inspection

  • Priority scheduling and extended service hours

  • No-cost service calls

Article 7: Indemnification

Customer agrees to hold harmless, indemnify, and defend SEC, its employees, and subcontractors against any claims, damages, or expenses (including attorney’s fees) arising from:

  • Customer’s direction to perform work contrary to code or industry standards.

  • Pre-existing property conditions not created by SEC.

  • Third-party damage, modification, or interference with SEC’s work after completion.

This indemnification does not apply to claims resulting from SEC’s own negligence or willful misconduct.

Article 8: Hazardous Wiring & Safety Inspections

  • SEC frequently encounters hazardous systems (knob-and-tube, aluminum, ungrounded, etc.).

  • SEC will document and communicate hazards. Customer is solely responsible for decisions regarding corrective work.

  • SEC will not re-energize unsafe wiring.
Customer releases SEC from liability for hazards left uncorrected at the Customer’s request.

Article 9: Documentation, Photos & Privacy

  • SEC will document completed work with photos for quality assurance and warranty records.

  • SEC may use photos of completed work for training or marketing unless the Customer opts out in writing.

  • SEC respects customer confidentiality at all times.

Article 10: Force Majeure

SEC is not responsible for delays or damages caused by events beyond its control, including weather, supply chain disruptions, permitting delays, utility company delays, or other force majeure events.

Article 11: Subcontractors

SEC manages all labor, materials, and subcontracted work. Unauthorized instructions given directly to subcontractors are at the Customer’s risk and expense.

Article 12: Final Walkthrough

A final walkthrough will be offered to the Customer if present. SEC’s documentation of completion (including photos) constitutes substantial completion.

Mutual Acknowledgment and Acceptance

This agreement is binding upon the Customer’s use of SEC’s services. By engaging SEC, accepting a quote, scheduling service, or permitting work to begin, the Customer agrees to the terms and conditions of this General Service Agreement in full.
